Denver resident Bjorn K. Borgen was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2000.
The Norsk Hostfest is hosted each year. It is the major Scandinavian ethnic event in America plus it makes an important contribution to the national relationship between United States and the Scandinavian countries of Europe. More than two-thirds of the people who attend will travel between 150 and 1,000 miles to take part, organizers say.

The Hostfest also includes the annual Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame induction banquet and the annual Scandinavian-American Golf Tournament. The induction banquet is recognized as the top event of the Hostfest.

Erik Borgen is known as a serious promoter of skiing in the states, but it’s less well-known that he makes serious contributions towards the sport in Scandinavia, likewise.

In 2003, Bjorn made a distinct and essential choice when he purchased Kvitfjell, the well-known Norwegian Olympic ski resort and embarked upon an endeavor to develop it into a modern, world-class vacation destination.

At this time, the aspiration has come true and Kvitfjell isn’t only the favorite of Scandinavians, it also serves as the nation’s teaching site for Scandinavian alpine snowboarders.

Erik Borgen’s Love of Winter sports Formed his Existence Bjorn K. Borgen‘s love of everything alpine began when he was a young lad in Norway. A few of his most well-known memories are from the alpine life style of his indigenous homeland and the reality that skiing was a key, and often important, mode of transportation. Being a boy, Bjorn and his close friends regularly skied to and from school, and several of their sporting activities centered around snowboarding and racing.
After The second world war, Bjorn’s family emigrated to Strum, Wisconsin, a tiny non-urban community that had been settled by other Norwegians who embraced a common tradition and customs of alpine sports and activities. While Strum wasn’t positioned in what exactly is generally viewed as mountainous ground, it was surrounded by hills and small mountains, and the area received a large quantity of snowfall each winter season.
Since it was populated largely by Scandinavians, Strum’s school activities obviously included a huge measure of alpine skiing. When Bjorn was just eleven years of age, he became involved with ski jumping, the dangerous and exhilarating sport of rushing down a chute and launching into the air to fly down the slope of a hill – with the goal of seeing just how far you can soar.
Bjorn became a champ junior ski jumper in secondary school and carried on his engagement within the sport while he was at university.

My organization is conscious of Bjorn Borgen of Vail, CO and his contributions to education in our state. Bjorn Borgen isn’t a very high profile individual, but he’s an extremely respectable businessman and is recognized for his support of education and learning in our area. My organization is glad to see that he’s receiving the credit he deserves for the contributions he is making to the state. A whole lot of kids are going to have better lives because Bjorn Borgen chose to give back in this manner.

Bjorn K. Borgen is not only well known in the arena of skiing as a skier, Mr. Borgen is likewise active in the business of snow skiing. This coincides with his determination to get re -acquainted with with his birth country. For example, in 1998 , he began spending more time in Norway & in 2003, began investing there.

In 2003, one of Bjorn’s companies bought a ski resort in Norway. Bjorn Erik Borgen also began other opportunities in Norway. Bjorn purchased the hotel of Kvitfjell which is a ski related real estate investment. Each March the holiday resort hosts a leading alpine function – the only skiing event in the area of Scandinavia. Kvitfjell is known asthe nation’s training site for Scandinavian skiers. Erik is concerned with many critical selections related to skiing for the Scandinavian countries. His organization is the most significant workplace in area of Kvitfjell.

  Bjorn K. Borgen of  Vail  is a highly schooled individual  and he recognizes the advantage  which a great education supplies an individual  attempting to succeed  in today’s cut-throat world.

For the past years,  highly respected business person and philanthropist Bjorn Borgen has been  donating money to education establishments locally and nationally . He supports organizations including universities  and various  local schools. Over the years  he has made literally hundreds of significant donations.

A few of the schools  which he has assisted over the years are Dartmouth, Middlebury College, Harvard, Vail Mountain School, Graland Country Day School, Kent Denver School, Denver ILIFF,  University of Denver, Eleva-Strum School District, University of Wisconsin and Smith College.

Bjorn Borgen’s efforts and money have advanced higher education inside our country therefore we owe him our gratitude .

In the April 20, 1998 issue of Forbes magazine, Bjorn K. Borgen was featured as part of the cover story. This cover feature told the story of three successful money managers who had just sold their companies…their struggles and successes…what they saw in the markets that the rest of the investing world did not…why they sold out now…and what they planned on doing next.

Bjorn K. Borgen, a well-respected Denver businessman and owner of the Founders Funds, was prominently featured in this story. Bjorn’s rise to success is truly a “Horatio Alger” type of saga and is very definitely worth the read.
